Dance Programme 


The Dance Programme (47 credits) is of general educational worth and offers wide knowledge of and eligibility for a choreographic process and creating a dance performance.  The education gives a many-sided eligibility for a choreographic process and creating a dance performance. Its objective is to help the student to find various choreographic starting points for making up a piece of dance by means of modern dance and/or folk dance.

A part of the studies will be implemented in cooperation with the Dance Teacher Education of Oulu University of Applied Sciences. The studies belong to the open polytechnic instruction and they will be taken according to the degree requirements of the University of Applied Sciences.

Course contents: 

  • Dance Studies: contemporary dance, classic ballet, folk dance and show dance

  • Working Life and Dance Performance

  • History of Dance and Historic Dances

  • Welfare of the Dancer/Anatomy

  • Choreography and Production

  • Work as Dancer

 

Portfolio

As free choice studies the students have the opportunity to complete basic studies in Educational Science (20 credits). These studies will be taken according to the degree requirements of the Faculty of Education at Oulu University.
