Comenius 2008-2010
German and Finnish Aspect of Sustainable Development
Comenius School Partnership between media GmbH Stuttgart, Germany and Haapaveden Opisto, Finland brings together multimedia students and staff from each country and gives them the opportunity to work together on aspects of German and Finnish Sustainable Development using their practical skills in multimedia, to highlight and learn from the differences in audiovisual communication systems and in the awareness of the issues of sustainable development. Students document examples of good practice among young people and in everyday life. Besides the grass root level knowledge of sustainable development, they will get acquainted with entrepreneurship in this field. The project provides an opportunity to learn something about the language and the way of life in another European country. The participants cooperate during the planning stage via email, phone, videoconferencing etc., getting to know each other and have the opportunity to learn about education systems, geography, culture etc. The essential benefit of the exchange is students working together producing a bilingual documentary program on sustainable development and an Internet site with downloadable content (videos, printable PDF-files).
German-Finnish groups working in Haapavesi 8.-19.2.09
In the middle of winter ten German students with two lecturers arrived at Haapavesi. Their goal was to get to know Finnish culture and ways of working by working in groups with ten Finnish students. The groups focused on different themes of sustainable development in their projects. While working together students got to know both each other and also something about both cultures and languages. The end result was an enjoyable and educative ten days for everyone. The results of each working group will be visible online before the end of May when the project website on Sustainable Development will be released.
