International work training handbook

Haapaveden Opiston on yhdessä kahdeksan kansainvälisen partnerinsa kanssa laatinut kansainvälisen työssäoppimiskäsikirjan.

The three colleges, Haapaveden Opisto, Katedralskolan I Uppsala and Vilnius Conservatoire have been cooperating for years. There is a certain change of emphasis from the earlier group exchanges to more individual learning opportunities. One focus is to promote transition of students from each educational institute into the workforce and for that purpose to encourage the mobility of the trainees, also abroad.

A new aspect to the on-job-training has been offered with the help of the two German organisations, ODERSTRASSE 8 - Jugend- und Sozialarbeit and Zschopau Youth and Leisure Centre . All the five partners have actively been doing comparative work with the curriculums and at the same time trying to make sure that the education offered would also meet the needs of working life and the intercultural challenges.

In order to encourage the mobility of the students between the four partner countries and to give information and certain guidelines for the students, teacher tutors and employer tutors this little HANDBOOK OF INTERNATIONAL WORK TRAINING has been processed.

Revised and extended 2nd edition 2004

The first edition of the International Work Training Handbook was processed by Haapaveden Opisto, Katedralskolan i Uppsala, Vilnius Conservatoire, ODERSTRASSE 8 - Jugend- und Sozialarbeit and Zschopau Youth and Leisure Centre in 2002. In the following academic year (2002-2003) all those institutions were partners in a Leonardo Mobility Project this handbook was used for the first time in practice and it was commonly found very useful especially when preparing the students from the Youth and Leisure Instruction Programme at Haapaveden Opisto for their exchange periods.

A new Leonardo Mobility Project (with the title From a Hobby to a Profession) will be implemented in the academic year 2004 - 2005. This time it will be a joint project for students from both the Youth and Leisure Instruction and Audiovisual Communication Programmes. Because two study programmes will be involved in this project, it means also that there will be several new partners: Aberdeen College and Moray College from Scotland and Bobergskolan and Ålsta Folkhögskola from Sweden. The handbook has now been revised and extended so that it includes information about the new partner colleges and partner towns.
